چکیده

The aim of this study is to investigate the stabilization tannery sludge compost mixed with cow manure at different ratios by employing an epigeic earthworm Eisenia foetida and bioaccumulation chromium in earthworms. Organic (M) (S) were certain proportions, moistened worms added. Mixing realized as 100% M (M100S0), 70% + 30% S (M70S30), 50% (M50S50) (M30S70). experiment was carried out a constant temperature 24 oC dark environment according randomized plot design three replicates. ended after 120 days following parameters evaluated vermicomposts: pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total nitrogen (TN), organic carbon (TOC), C:N ratio, macro micro elements. In addition, it determined chromium, Cr (VI) vermicomposts E. body. results for TOC, ratio showed decreases their values end vermicomposting process, whereas EC, TON, Ca Mg increase, indicating that reached maturity level. All below detectable During reduction rates amounts 96% (M30S70), respectively. While highest amount body M30S70 treatment, element decreased due decreasing doses compost. These show can bioacumulate As result, be alternate technology recycling environmentally safe disposal/management using foetida.

Physicochemical Characterization of Compost of the Industrial Tannery Sludge

It is very important that tannery wastes in the form of sludge are managed in an environmentally sound manner. This study focused on the heavy metal characterization and the influence of changing the physico-chemical properties of the medium throughout the composting on the concentrations, bioavailability or chemical forms of Cr, Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd in tannery sludge. The physical and chemical pr...

Feasibility of vermicomposting in biostabilization of sludge from a distillery industry.

The feasibility of vermicomposting technology to stabilize the distillery industry sludge mixed with a bulking agent (cow dung) in different proportions viz. 20% (T1), 40% (T2), 60% (T3) and 80% (T4), was tested using composting earthworm Perionyx excavatus for 90 days. The vermitreated sludge was evaluated for different physico-chemical parameters and all vermibeds expressed a significant decr...

Combined compost and vermicomposting process in the treatment and bioconversion of sludge.

Traditional thermophillic composting is commonly for treatment of sludge. A related technique as vermicomposting process, using earthworms to breakdown sludge, is also becoming popular. These two techniques have their inherent advantages and disadvantages. The combined approach suggested in this study to enhance the overall process and improve the products qualities. Two systems, vermicompostin...

Feasibility of nutrient recovery from industrial sludge by vermicomposting technology.

Transformation of industrial sludges into vermicompost is of double interest: on the one hand, a waste is converted into value added product, and, on the other, it controls a pollutant that is a consequence of increasing industrialization. This paper reports the feasibility of utilization of vermicomposting technology for nutrient recovery from industrial sludge in laboratory scale experiment e...

Improved compaction of dried tannery wastewater sludge.

We quantitatively studied the advantages of improving the compaction of a powder waste by several techniques, including its pelletization. The goal is increasing the mass storage capacity in a given storage volume, and reducing the permeability of air and moisture, that may trigger exothermic spontaneous reactions in organic waste, particularly as powders. The study is based on dried sludges fr...
